No, you don't need to install Windows 10 via USB when resetting or selecting it in the settings.

From the settings menu, you can skip using a USB drive (unless you want to keep Windows on the current disk; otherwise, you need a USB). Remember that during reset you have the choice to retain programs or documents, but always back up your files. Decide whether you want a complete deletion or just a clean-up—follow the prompts. If you hand over the device, choose full clean; if it stays with you and the process is lengthy, go with delete only.
