Hello. I need to install Windows 10 (64-bit) on my PC. I left Windows a few years ago because of its outdated appearance and now I’m ready to give it another chance. I’m curious if this will work with the current hardware. System details: Processor – Intel D945GCNL, Core 2 Duo E4600 @ 2.9 GHz (overclocked), Memory – two 2GB DDR2 modules at 800MHz, Graphics – built-in Intel GMA 950, PCIe – AMD Radeon RX 570. Sure, an SSD would be a good choice. An old hard drive could run slower.
It will function. I just made a change to the E6600 system last weekend.
@porina In fact, there are reports suggesting E6600 could be effective. There seems to be some discussion about whether Intel's virtualization features are necessary. Specifically, I'm looking for confirmation that the 64-bit version is required. Updated May 20, 2019 by Vector0102
There are certain CPU capabilities needed for Windows 10, though I’m not sure it was related to virtualization. I wasn’t able to install it on a Pentium M with a single core running at 1.5 GHz. It seems possible for the Core 2 era, even the older models, but I can’t confirm. You might try installing a Windows 10 USB drive and testing it on a spare disk if you have one.
I believe it's Execute Disable Bit feature. My E4600 can do that.
