I’m checking the Asus Prime Z790-A for any known problems that might affect performance. If there are concerns, let me know and I can recommend a better option.
I will utilize a 13700k and G.Skill Trident Z5 2x16GB DDR5 6000MHz system with the mb interface.
Looking at the surface and technical details seems to indicate a solid motherboard. But actual user experiences show issues with quality control—some boards fail or die—and missing features like debug code displays, which aren’t part of the price.
Consider alternatives such as Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX, MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi, or ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-Plus WiFi. The main problem was a defective unit, which seems to be the case for the ASUS model you mentioned. I’d still look at other mid-range options they offer. Generally, I don’t trust their PRIME boards much. ASUS has been facing quality issues recently—like reverse diodes on some Z690 boards, X3D problems, and a warranty void in the latest BIOS. Jayz also highlighted concerns from GamersNexus, noting missing contracts and the fact we’re entering June. @RONOTHAN## might have better tailored advice if you share your budget and location.
