My network includes a modem from my ISP, a Netgear ProSafe FSV318N, and a D-Link DSG 3024 managed switch. All devices except my PS4 receive an IP address through the switch, while the PS4 works fine when connected to the ProSafe router. I’m wondering why this happens—I don’t mind leaving it in the router, but keeping it in the switch helps keep the setup tidy.

Hi there! It seems there might be an issue with DHCP not working through your switch for your PS4. I’d recommend verifying the duplex setting on your Switchports and the port speed configuration. It could be that your PS4’s network card speed doesn’t align with what the switch is set to, which isn’t typical. Another option would be assigning a static IP address to your PS4 (though this might not be feasible if you don’t have one) to avoid relying on DHCP. Let me know how it goes!

I attempted to assign a static IP address, and the ports were configured in auto mode. It appears the speeds are correct—around 1 gigabit—but the switch detects it as connected. From a traffic perspective, it seems like it’s not actually linked to any network.
