Checking the dmesg output with 'grep rtl' could reveal any relevant errors. Also, confirm there are no lockups before proceeding. Upgrading didn't resolve the problem; installing a newer kernel from Ukuu would be preferable if you recall the 4.19 release as the current mainline.
