No improvement in frame rate when using my overclock settings.
I recently bought a dell gaming desktop . I overclocked my experience 580 8gb using afterburner from 1266 core clock to 1403 and my memory clock from 2000 to 2250 with a 18 mv increase to voltage . This is a pretty heavy overclock from what I understand . but I do not see improvements on heaven benchmark or valley benchmark . It’s virtually the same . maybe the FPS is a .2 better lol it’s dell gaming desktop so I know they went cheap on the Mobo . Could the Mobo be the bottle neck? If so why would it still be a stable overclock and no give me a FPS boost
I am lost . What’s going on here ?
Ryzen 7 1800x
Rx 580 8gb reference card
16gb ram 2400mhz
Thanks guys
Consider two GPUs, like a 1050 and a 1070. At high settings needing a steady 60fps, the 1050 runs at 90% capacity while the 1070 operates at 40%. This shows the 1070 can push settings to ultra, the GPU can handle higher FPS, and you can still use a higher resolution monitor or other upgrades without running out of room. Running either CPU or GPU at full power leaves no flexibility. In a demanding scenario like a first-person shooter, details max out and movement feels sluggish—just 55-65fps. During intense action, such as bullet ricochets, the GPU becomes heavily strained, making performance even more challenging.
OC will assist only when the CPU/GPU is constrained and the additional power would make a difference. Consider an FX CPU; using it for anything shows optimism with a good GPU. Then OC really helps because the CPU gets limited. However, boosting the GPU won't instantly improve FPS on a standard FX. The biggest gains will appear only on a benchmark test.
My GPU usage remains consistently high, around 90% to 100%, while the hardware stays relatively cool, rarely exceeding 60°C even when I increase the fan speed.
