Hello, currently I have a Gigabit connection at home and intend to purchase a Pi Zero W. Since I’m not fully sure, I’ll need a Micro USB-B to LAN adapter and connect the Pi to my router as a regular PC. Does the traffic go through PiHole and back to the router, or does PiHole only receives specific site information and assigns 0.0.0.0? I also plan to use faster switches—around 2.5Gbps or more—to avoid slowing down the Pi. Additionally, I might get a 2Gbps internet connection from my ISP. Regarding learning resources, I’m thinking about Cisco certifications but also believe there are excellent free networking tutorials available.
PiHole appears as a disguised DNS server. Your devices will use it when checking IP addresses linked to hostnames, but it does nothing more. It requires minimal computing power on the server side. Your data isn't routed through PiHole since it doesn't act as a firewall.
