Recently I've noticed heightened sensitivity to aliasing in intricate areas like ropes, power lines, or fences—details that are often only visible with a few pixels at 1080p. For instance, the ropes dangling from the ship masts in Novigrad harbor now stand out sharply, making their shimmering and aliasing painfully apparent. I'm concerned this might be shaping my preferences toward higher quality visuals. Overcoming such temporal aliasing is challenging except by playing at 4K resolution. I recently tried World of Warcraft for the first time in about six years, and with a GTX 1070 I can smoothly run the game at 8x MSAA across various resolutions and scaling settings. The visuals still feel dated and low resolution, but the experience is much more forgiving when every detail is crisp.

I'm not familiar with any game, so I'm guessing about the tiny delays in input response. Many of the games I play are quite old, so I'm used to adjusting settings, but switching to a newer AAA title and trying to match the look of my older ones without the advanced features is tough.

I don't really focus much on AA. For me, enabling FXAA/SMAA works fine. TAA looks too soft, and MSAA feels the same as SMAA to me. But the performance difference is negligible!

It really depends on the game. Usually I use a less demanding AA version, which works well at 1440p.
