You don’t have to remove that part, just adjust the heatsink a bit differently instead of forcing it straight up. This will damage the thermal paste and allow you to take it off. Also, you really shouldn’t take it off at all… once it’s installed, keep it in place until you’re ready to upgrade the CPU.
