I use it to help you with your questions and tasks. For privacy, the best option is to avoid sharing sensitive information and to use trusted services.

I rely solely on local accounts and find it frustrating when the Windows installer insists you use a Microsoft account while connected to the internet. From a privacy standpoint, using a local account is better, but Windows 10 includes many additional data collection features built directly into the system. The information gathered goes beyond just a Microsoft account—it tracks various aspects of your computer usage.

for privacy, a local account is ideal. It doesn’t really matter much, but I use a local one since I want my computer password separate from any online account. (And those old systems that don’t support MS accounts)

Microsoft Account was needed since Visual Studio asked for login. For privacy, it likely won’t matter much.

I utilized personal domain accounts for my own domain, which feels more like a local setup. All data gathering and privacy settings are turned off or limited to the minimum via group policy.

I rely on my Microsoft account since certain games I play on my PC were bought via the Windows store, meaning I need to log in to access them (for example, Forza Horizon 4, which I got before it was added to Steam).

It isn't required to be connected. You can add items to the Store using a local account... though it doesn't really protect your privacy much.

I utilize a Microsoft account because of its straightforward setup and cross-device synchronization. It’s something I’ve always wanted. My account is perceived as private—created solely for my PC, not shared with others, and I haven’t used it to send emails beyond receiving purchase notifications from the MS Store. I view it as an extra layer of security. My full name isn’t stored in the account; only my first name appears on the login screen.
