You can back up your games first, then reinstall Windows from a clean installation media. This way you’ll avoid losing your files during the process.

Transfer them to a different storage device or pull them from the Old Windows directory on the system boot disk once the reinstall is complete. Be careful not to format the drive, or all data before Windows will be lost.

Sure, you can copy the Steam and Origin folders directly without using any special formatting steps.

The simplest approach is to transfer the entire Steam directory to an external storage device (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam). I set up Windows on a 50GB partition, used the remaining 250GB for additional files, and installed all desired games there. This way, you avoid repeatedly copying the Steam folder. Additionally, using two 1-2TB drives in mirror mode will make it easy to store most of your games.

Yes, just shift the folder containing the game, Steam will locate it automatically and connect everything. However, there was a case where a game wasn't found initially and needed to be re-downloaded.

Sure, I'll just paste the file onto your notebook using the Ethernet cable.

You may need to reinstall in Origin because it couldn't locate the games on your HDD, even though they were stored on another partition.

Steam offers a backup and restore option that is straightforward and reliable. Origin lacks this capability, but following my instructions consistently has worked well for me.

1. Transfer the game folder from your default Origin games directory to another location.
2. Upon installing a new operating system, launch Origin and sign in with your account.
3. Select the copied game from Origin and begin installation.
4. Pause the download when it starts and exit Origin.
5. Reinsert the game folder into the Origin games directory you previously copied.
6. Restart Origin, resume the download, which will mark it complete and initiate installation.
7. Enjoy playing the game!
