I recently assembled my first PC. Everything proceeded smoothly until I made a mistake by attempting to connect the fan to the RGB header on my motherboard. The fan seems damaged. My motherboard is a B550 TUF gaming prime and the CPU is a Ryzen 7 3700X. I’ve realized I need a new CPU cooler and other components, but I accidentally powered off the system without a cooler attached. Do you think I damaged the CPU? There’s a red light on the side of the motherboard, but I can’t find any details about it in the manual or on the manufacturer’s site. I’m worried I might have ruined this brand new processor. I have day trade warranty, but I’m unsure if it covers such issues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need further information. The computer did work, it booted fully and only started twice before I shut it down quickly.

It functioned properly until I turned on the fan, which caused a restart, driver installation, and everything operated smoothly. The following day I performed a major overhaul.

New motherboards can power down when the CPU overheats, or they may reduce its speed to avoid harm, which is a normal safety feature.

Plug in the correct slots and it might function, it works for her. Just remember, don't misinterpret. RTFM
