Hello, I've configured my system with aorus b450, an amd ryzen 5 2600, and a 2x8gb vengeance lpx 3000mhz ram setup. My issue began after upgrading to another 16gb. I purchased the same type of RAM but couldn't find a package for 16gb (2x8), so I bought two 8gb sticks. Once installed, my PC worked fine, but performance dropped significantly—slow speeds and long boot times. Removing them restored normal speed. When I replaced the old 16gb with the two 8gb units, performance was slower than before but improved after installing 32gb. My question is: could buying two separate 8gb sticks instead of a single 16gb have affected things? Even though they match the specs? I've attached photos showing the new setup clearly indicates 8gb per stick, while my old configuration had 16gb (2x8).
Also explored other solutions besides exchanging the RAM modules. Checked if resetting the CMOS settings would help. Also asked whether the specifications remain consistent across your previous RAM model.
Ryzen 2000 IMC faced issues above 3000Mhz. Some users settled for 2933Mhz, others reached up to 3200Mhz. Extra RAM increases load on the IMC, potentially restricting performance. Provide the exact model numbers of your existing and new RAM. If everything checks out, install the new RAM alongside the old one as before, enable XMP (or DOCP), and then manually lower the speed from 3000 to 2666 to test effectiveness.
The only choice in bios with xmp was 3000 speed, it wasn’t possible to reduce it further; you could only use 3000 or disable xmp, after which the frequency dropped to 2133 MHz.
