Can I support a 12600kf or 12400 with this setup, The 12400 should be fine but all the calculators seem to point toward the 12600kf needing a 700w PSU when paired with my system. Specs: CPU: 12100f (is it even worth swapping to a 12400 or 12600kf?) GPU: AMD 5700XT PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GX2 80+ Gold 600W Cooling: One rear exhaust (120mm), ARCTIC Alpine 17 CPU cooler Ram: 16 GB DDR4 3200 CL16 (Soon to be 32) Motherboard: MSI PRO H610M-G WIFI DDR4 I also have a CD/DVD RW drive. One 512GB SSD, one 256GB Nvme (OS) I want a new CPU mainly because my current one has trouble with Minecraft, Its unplayable unless on a server. Singleplayer maxes the CPU and causes massive stutters. I do multitask a lot as well

For a low-end board like this, sticking with a 12400 would be sensible, and the gap between 12100F and 12400F shouldn't be noticeable in Minecraft. I’d prefer to upgrade the motherboard instead. A B760M PG Riptide lets you push the 12100F overclock, potentially boosting performance by around 40% in games—more than a CPU upgrade could achieve on this setup. However, many prefer not to overclock, so this might not suit everyone. Are you purchasing a complete system or just adding another stick? If you’re using a single stick, running it in single-channel memory is likely the main problem.

Completely new setup. I believe the issue comes from my GPU surpassing the CPU. I’m really comfortable with overclocking. From what you mentioned, I might just keep what I have. It functions perfectly for all the games and programs I use. The only challenge is getting Minecraft singleplayer to run. Interestingly, when I start a server on the same machine, it performs better than single-player. That’s quite unusual.
