I understand this might seem unrelated, but I’d consider reseating the CPU in its socket. Each PCI lane connects to the CPU socket. Have you tried installing a different CPU? I faced issues with my PC that would abruptly shut down. The fix was reattaching PSU cables on the modular PSU side. I suggest: 1) reseating CPU, 2) reconnecting PSU cables on both sides, 3) testing another CPU.
Hey everyone, no built-in graphics here. Agree with Mora about reseating the CPU and checking all power connections. After all your troubleshooting, my biggest concern is that the motherboard might be damaged.
Try a different compatible motherboard and see if the problem persists.
I’ll attempt to reattach the CPU. I understand the problem began after we handed it over to Tech Help, possibly due to a simple oversight. Could you clarify whether you mean reconnecting the PSU cables specifically for the CPU? Are you asking if the process involves just confirming the connection or swapping out the cables entirely? Thank you! The model is likely a 3800, and we’re certain it’s a Ryzen unit—though I’m not sure which one. I’ll follow Mora’s advice and keep you updated.
This means disconnect the power cable from the PSU and then connect it to both sides for every PSU cable, as though assembling a new computer.
Because this board supports BIOS flashback, you attempted a BIOS reflash. It functions properly when the BIOS is damaged and blocks startup. You should be able to install the most recent BIOS version since updates for the Ryzen 3000 series remain available on b550 boards.
Yes the board has this. Currently there is no Post (blank screen) - would the BIOS flashback change that? How is it done? Will do. Ill try to have updates tomorrow or by the weekend. Thanks.
I suggest getting the manual for the motherboard from the ASUS website. The instructions there will guide you through the steps. In short, download a file onto your computer, then use a tool to save it to a USB drive. Plug the USB into the correct port, activate BIOS flashback by pressing the button near that port, and let it run for a few minutes. No processor or memory is required for this process.
