No entry featuring Ryzen 3800x and Asus B450-F Gaming

Hi, I'm facing issues upgrading from the Ryzen 2700 to the Ryzen 3800x. My PC won't boot or access BIOS/UEFI. I've followed all the steps: updated firmware, used multiple RAM sticks, adjusted CLRTC, reset defaults. Still no improvement. After turning on the fans, the mainboard's Q LED turns yellow for DRAM and red for CPU, then it restarts without any signal. The system keeps rebooting. My ASUS says it should work with the 3800x generally, but I haven't had this problem before. The CPU is brand new. Could this be the cause? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Best, Markus

The installed BIOS version depends on the specific motherboard model. Based on the ASUS support page for that board, a minimum of BIOS version 2301 is required to run the Ryzen 7 3800X. It’s recommended to upgrade to the latest stable BIOS using version 2700, reset the default settings, verify proper boot behavior, and confirm the CPU cooler is connected and functioning before proceeding with any CPU changes.

Thank you for your update. The BIOS is now set to version 3003, and you're testing RAM slots 2 and 4 while using slots 1 and 3. The original 2700 cooler attachment doesn't seem to be the issue.

I performed the identical steps you outlined. Updated to version 2700, reset the system, and restarted it in Windows. Then I replaced the CPU.

Consider a previous version around 2605. I'll progress through the updates until we reach the 3000 series support beginning in 2301.

I moved to version 2605 but haven't seen results yet. I suspect the power supply might be too weak, as it only provides 550W.

It might be worth considering. It wouldn't hurt to use a larger power supply, though I'd avoid wasting money without a reason. The decision is yours.
