I placed two 16 GB drives in the first two slots from left to right (a1, a2), and the remaining two slots are also unused in an alternating order (b1, b2). I’m unable to install them in an alternate arrangement. My system uses a Z690 with an Intel core 12700K. Installation isn’t possible on B1 or B2 since both Bs share the cooler fan, even though it’s fine on A.

Using A1 and A2 slots means single-channel operation. Possible solutions include adjusting the cooler's fan position, purchasing a different cooler, or opting for lower-profile RAM.

Minimalist RAM option. Consider getting a fitting HSF too.

The cooler features a fan positioned between two dissipator blocks and another fan ahead. The front fan isn't fitting correctly due to the cooler's size changing from 160mm to 190mm, which prevents closing the cabinet properly. If using an open cabinet, I can raise the fan for better placement of other components in one of the Bs. What I receive from dual-channel setup is different? My motherboard is Z690—can it support dual-channel with a1 and a2?

A is a single channel, B is the alternative. Using both sticks is required for dual channel operation. This setup doubles the memory bandwidth. The effect on performance varies based on the system and applications you run. You may be able to disable the front fan without significant consequences.

Absolutely amazing! The CPU temp dropped quickly—from 78-79°C to 67-68°C within 15 minutes after adjusting the fan and adding the cooler between the chassis. I was able to install memory on slots 2 and 4, and it worked perfectly with dual channel. Thanks so much for your tips—it really made a difference!
