Hello there,
Two weeks ago my computer suddenly went black and stopped recognizing my GPU. When I connected my monitor to the motherboard’s iGPU port, everything worked properly. However, Windows didn’t detect the GPU on other devices, nor did it appear in hidden devices. I’m unable to install the GPU drivers because they claim no Nvidia GPU is detected. The GPU also doesn’t show up in the BIOS.

About two days before this issue started, I encountered a blue screen and failed boot, which I resolved by reseating the SSD and reinserting the GPU to access it. Currently, I’m using integrated graphics and everything functions correctly. Still, I haven’t identified the root cause.

I checked the SSD with CrystalDiskInfo three days ago; the screen went black again when using iGPU, and Windows wouldn’t boot (just loading). This was fixed by resetting.

My attempts so far include:
- Reinstalling Windows
- Resetting CMOS
- Updating BIOS
- Checking GPU boot options in BIOS
- Reseating the graphics card
- Reseating RAM slots individually
- Testing with a different monitor and cable
- Using an older GPU that still didn’t detect but fans were spinning
- Booting from HDD or SSD both resulted in the same failure
- Uninstalling old drivers via DDU in safe mode
- Switching to a Gigabyte 365 DS3H motherboard
- Verifying the SSD with Crystaldiskinfo

It doesn’t allow driver installation since it fails to detect the card.

My PC specifications:
i7-9700
B365M Pro vh (365 DS3H now)
2x8GB DDR4 RAM
1x 2TB 990 SSD / 1TB HDD
EVGA 600W
2060 KO Ultra EVGA / Old GPU 960 GB - Connected via HDMI

I suspect the power supply might be the issue, not the CPU. I’m uncertain but could try connecting my GPU to another machine to confirm. I’m running out of options and would appreciate your assistance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
EVGA is the manufacturer of the unit and 600W is the claimed wattage of the power supply. What model is your device? How recent is the power supply in your system?
I suspect it could be a power supply unit. You might want to find or borrow a well-built PSU with at least 650W capacity for your entire setup.
Updated BIOS
For clarity, which BIOS version did you install?
You've switched the motherboard to Gigabyte 365 DS3H.
Please note that you should reinstall your operating system since you changed the motherboard. This advice applies if you mentioned reinstalling the OS after replacing the motherboard; otherwise, it's not necessary.

Hi there lutfij,
Your message is clear. I'll provide you with the exact PSU name as soon as I get home.
I've upgraded the BIOS of the old MOBO (b365M pro vh) to version 7C31v16.
I also updated Windows using the old motherboard; I haven't tested it on the new one yet, but I'll try today and follow up.
Thanks again.

Hi Lutfij
Just finished a fresh Windows installation but the GPU isn't showing up anywhere. I don't have any PSU available, but I'm open to buying a new one just in case it's not enough. My current PSU is an EVGA 600W W1 with 80+ WHITE and it's at least three years old. Are there other steps I can try besides changing the PSU? Thanks for your time.

Today I replaced the PSU with an NZXT C850, installed it, and the PC recognized the GPU immediately. I downloaded the NVIDIA app to install drivers, and everything is functioning properly. The problem seemed to be related to the PSU. However, after restarting the computer, the issue reappeared. The GPU wasn't detected at all. I tried uninstalling the drivers using DDU in safe mode, but it didn't work again. Someone with a similar problem found a solution: unplug the power supply cable, turn off the PSU, wait 30 minutes, then restart the PC and the GPU should be detected. If the PC restarts, repeat the process.
