No, DISM and SFC can't always fix messed-up files in Windows.
I switched out my old RAM, but now my computer is super slow and my audio keeps cutting out or glitching. I tried running SFC first, which told me my files are corrupt so it can't fix them. Then I ran DISM but I got an error about the system not finding a path. Even though I ran it again with just restorehealth, the same thing happened. The program was still stuck at 53% and the error code was 3 because the computer didn't know where to find the files. I'm really confused now and want to fix this without resetting my PC since that's such a pain because all my games need reinstalling. Please help me solve this without losing everything. 🙁 Here is a link to the DISM log file so you can check what happened.
Welcome to the forums! Since it's so hard to reinstall all my games, if you are using Steam, just assign a drive as your game library. After you restart your computer, go into settings and tell the launcher where that drive is. A problem started when I changed out my old RAM. If you can't figure it out, try swapping back to the older RAM kit. Maybe you should check if your BIOS is up-to-date and clear your CMOS after making sure your BIOS is current.
I ran a memory check on my old sticks and it flagged a hardware problem, but the new ones didn't show any issues. I tried switching them back anyway, though the error kept coming up, so I switched to the new RAM now. I cleared my CMOS every single time and made sure my BIOS was updated. When it comes to Steam, my other drive is an HDD, so moving all those files around takes forever.
