Hello! I bought a 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3000MHz RAM for my ASRock Z270 M4 board. I’ve been running a stable 4.5GHz overclock on an i7-6700K and everything is fine until I turn on the XMP profile in BIOS. After that, the system restarts and I can’t log back in. Anyone have tips or suggestions? Thanks!

This might just be my RAM issue, but I'm using Corsair Vengeance LX 3000MHz with the same ASRock board. The main change is a 6600K CPU. I previously struggled with crashes and boot failures at 3000K using XMP. Once I switched to XMP and increased the voltage to 1.395V, everything stabilized perfectly without any crashes in over six months. This should help you too. If you're stuck, clearing the CMOS quickly usually restarts it. Be aware this will reset the BIOS, erasing all changes. Edit: For boards like these, there isn't a CMOS battery—just set pins 2/3 on "clrmos1" to fix it.

You managed to restore everything to its original state. Since you had access to the CMOS battery, you can reset the CPU configuration and adjust the memory voltage if needed. The exact voltage limit depends on your specific setup—consider checking your device’s manual for safe operating ranges.

It's usually the top speed you should aim for, but I haven't reached that point before. Mostly I avoided going too high because I didn't feel like spending $90. I lowered it to 1.44v and then slowed down until it stopped, bringing it back to a lower setting. For me it was around 1.395v—maybe similar for you. You could test 1.4v or 1.395v and see what works best. If you're concerned about damage, don't worry; these speeds are safe. Either way, you now know how to reset it if it breaks down.
