You're experiencing inconsistent performance with your HDMI to VGA adapter. It seems the issue might be related to cable quality or compatibility. Try using a different VGA cable or checking for any damage. Also, ensure the adapter is properly seated in both ports. If the problem persists across multiple monitors and cables, there could be an internal fault with the adapter itself.

Check if the screen supports formats other than VGA. Can you provide another device with VGA output to verify functionality?

It has HDMI, yet the colors appear overexposed and distorted when I use it. I've attempted several fixes but haven't found a resolution. The same issue shows up on other displays I've tested. Currently, I don't have any VGA-capable devices at home, though I might borrow one to check if the problem lies with my GPU.
