I own two CPU and motherboard setups from the used section. They match in cost and I’m only planning light gaming and video streaming. The GPUs are an 1650 4GB GDDR6 and two choices: an i3 8100 or a Gigabyte B360M D3H. The other option is a Pentium G6400 paired with a Gigabyte B560M.
Both options are quite disappointing. Which nation is this? What is the budget range? Are there any components already installed? If you didn’t purchase the 1650 model, think about an RX 570/580 instead—they’re more affordable and offer better performance, especially with the 8GB VRAM versions.
The 8100 offers better performance, though it seems like those two Pentium chips are pretty outdated because they’re just dual-core i3 models. They’re not very impressive compared to newer options. Check out used Ryzen 1600, 2600 or 3100 setups—they’ll push the i3 and Pentium to their limits while still being upgradeable to higher-end chips like 5800X3D or 5950X later.
Check Ark. Yet 2/4 remains quite tight in gaming, it’s hardly effective when G4560 was the top choice in the 500$ range back in 2017.
They didn’t realize hyperthreading was included in the latest Pentiums, but it still makes them a dual-core hyperthreaded unit—still not ideal.
