Unlocked status remains unchanged. Monitor performance dropped from 60 to 65 fps at 1440p ultra. Metro exodus maintained consistent frame rate after CPU upgrade, though GPU utilization reached maximum.

I adjusted the fan speed through both BIOS and Fan control.exe, but it didn’t change—remained around 1086 RPM. The device was connected via the 4-pin system headers. Are you certain all motherboards support this setting? I believe more affordable models might not.

I understand you're unsure about the hardware now, but I want to help so you avoid similar issues later. My main concern isn't speed, but cooling. The reason I returned was because of the fan setup. To check if your motherboard supports voltage regulation for 3-pin fans, look at its specifications or consult the manual—ensure it matches your fan configuration.

Update: I bought another motherboard, i checked the manual before buying to see if it had a DC fan mode (apparently not all motherboards have this, especially entry-level boards). Now it runs extremely quiet, and i am very happy with it! thanks for the replies people! Performance is also noticably better than the i7 4770k, especially 1% lows and in the consistency of frametime there is a noticable difference in gaming.
