No clear benefit for Windows 11 on the 11900k.
Hello everyone, I'm checking if anyone sees any benefit in upgrading my PC to Windows 11. I have a 11900k with 64GB DDR4 RAM, 3200MHz clock speed, and two NVMe SSDs on a Gigabyte Vision D Z590 board. I use it mainly for audio recording, and from what I've noticed so far, there isn't a major performance boost when tested on older CPUs. Some tests even indicate a slight increase in latency, though those numbers seem small to me. It's possible the new 12th-gen chips and Windows 11 scheduler improvements could help in the future. Could anyone highlight any pros or cons of this upgrade? Or should I just wait and see how it performs? I enjoy Windows 11 and have tested all my audio apps without issues. Thanks in advance, Dustin (note: accidentally wrote x 590, it's actually Z590).
At the moment there isn’t much awareness about these changes. My sense is that version 11 is an effort—maybe not very strong—to boost security. Version 10 won’t stop being supported for a long time, so you’ll have to deal with it eventually. Microsoft seems determined to push the Microsoft account tag, which I don’t feel confident about. There’s a lot of risk involved there. Version 11 could be necessary, but if you fell for the previous OS trick, it might not be a big deal except for early stability problems.
