I upgraded to a 3600 and removed the GPU for easier cooling access. Now the PC won’t boot, everything is flashing, and one GPU fan is spinning nonstop. What might be causing this issue?

The board seems quite outdated, likely not compatible with a BIOS supporting the 3600.

The motherboard could require a BIOS upgrade since it lacks built-in graphics, possibly needing the GPU to function properly.

He mentioned a GPU fan turning on, so I thought he reinstalled the GPU.

The GPU is installed and the motherboard packaging confirms Ryzen 3000 compatibility. I’m also pretty sure I ran a BIOS update last year.

I'm almost certain it is, but I'll keep trying with the 1200.

I also used the 1200 model, but it’s not starting properly, though the cooling fan is halted at full speed.

Check for CMOS issues and consider reseating the RAM.

Hello, I recommend reinstalling the old CPU into the motherboard and testing if it functions properly. If it works, look for the most recent BIOS update on the manufacturer’s site and apply it—they typically release new versions regularly. Should the old CPU still fail to boot as before, it might indicate a hardware issue where the new CPU has damaged the board. (unlikely but doable) If the system boots with the 1200 speed, it could suggest the 3600 unit is faulty. - Tom
