Hello. Many people think only older 8th-gen boards work with 6th and 7th-gen chips. Is the Asus B360-G Gaming motherboard compatible with an I7-6700K processor?

There exist two forms of the LGA 1151 connector. They look identical but function differently. The earlier models (100 and 200 series boards) are compatible with 6th and 7th generation processors, while the newer ones (300 series chipsets) support 8th and 9th generation CPUs. Even if you manage to run the 6700k on a board from the older line, you wouldn't be able to push it beyond its limits on a B360 chipset, and achieving maximum performance would be the only path to remain competitive now.
