I've been operating my initial rig constructed for school for about two years. It features a 1080, Ryzen 7 3700X, Asus ROG Strix b550-E motherboard, a Thermaltake 850W power supply, and 32GB 3200 G.Skill Ripjaws RAM. All components except the 1080 were brand new at purchase, and the 1080 performed well right away after benchmarking. This was one of two 1080 units bought for SLI, but the cooler on the second card failed a few months ago and hasn't been used. Initially, I faced some artifacts when setting up SLI, suspecting a VRAM issue. After eliminating SLI, I thought it was a RAM problem and spent weeks troubleshooting before discovering that disabling Asus's "Performance Enhancer" in BIOS resolved the issue. Recently, a power outage occurred in my area, causing artifacts to reappear—more severe now with frequent crashes and boot loops. Fortunately, my renter's insurance covered the surge damage. I'm considering selling any functional old parts to upgrade my system. My new GPU and power supply have arrived, and I tested the old motherboard, CPU, and RAM; the artifacts persisted. This issue appeared as horizontal white lines during video playback (visible on Naruto's face) when stable enough to load video. It now coincides with crashes, freezes, and boot loops. I've also tried booting from a Linux drive without drivers, but it still occurs. If anyone knows what's happening, I'd really appreciate your assistance. Essentially, random white lines, freezing, and crashes—no GPU or PSU issues (tested with different parts). Help would be greatly appreciated.
Possible issue might be a faulty display cable, these small problems can lead to many complications.
I attempted to remove one of my two sticks before focusing on school assignments. I believe XMP might be the cause. Could there be a compatibility problem? Here’s the exact RAM model I own: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-...6820232091 (Edited February 6, 2023 by Korone609) Link to product page
I recently removed the other RAM module and everything appears to be functioning properly so far. Thanks a lot for your assistance!
