Hi, I recently purchased a new AIO and installed it into my system, which was functioning perfectly before. Now it won’t power on at all. Initially, I suspected the motherboard might be faulty since I didn’t have a spare, so I decided to upgrade during the installation. However, the issue persisted. There’s no booting, only a faint click from the PSU, which Corsair mentions is a built-in feature. I’ve tested other PSUs and power cables, but nothing helped. Additionally, two red lights on the DRAM and CPU disappeared after removing two RAM sticks, yet it still doesn’t boot except for a brief light from the motherboard’s power button. I’m really unsure what to do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Edit: I’ve now bought a new CPU, but it still won’t boot. Specs: Motherboard N7 B550, CPU Ryzen 5 3600, AIO Kraken Z73, GPU RTX 3070TI, PSU Corsair RM850e, RAM 4x8 DDR4 Vengeance Pro.
Inspect your CPU and socket for any bent or damaged pins—it's quite frequent for Ryzen chips to come loose when taking off coolers. If it wasn't properly verified to stay securely in place, you might have placed the cooler over a CPU that wasn't actually seated, risking bent or broken pins. This is the initial action I would personally take.
Maybe I should reposition and verify each connection thoroughly for every part. Also, confirm you're using only the power cables that came with the PSU you installed; different cables won't work properly. Once I reassemble and check everything, you might be able to proceed safely, but ordering a new CPU could be a good idea if it still doesn’t boot. It would be smart to have a professional test the components beforehand.
I’ve already verified and repositioned everything during the motherboard swap. All the cables came with the Corsair PSU. I’m considering purchasing a new CPU since I plan to upgrade it later, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll look for a local professional who can inspect the connections. Your assistance was valuable in confirming several details.
Hello, I recently purchased a new CPU and installed it today. I’m concerned about the power supply unit possibly failing after only a few weeks of use. I believe visiting a professional at a nearby shop would be challenging, and there aren’t any available in my area, so I might consider fixing it myself. Please share any additional thoughts you have.
