It’s simple to build this kind of configuration; you don’t need to be a total beginner. Setting it up usually takes around 30 minutes. For AMD versus Intel, AMD works better because most Intel CPUs have issues with IOMMU groups. This makes sharing more than one GPU tricky since they’re all on the same “band.” So you’d either use both in one virtual machine or not at all. Still, you can work around it by patching or modifying the setup. AMD separates GPUs on most machines, which means they’re basically “plug and play” for individual users.
