It depends on whether you run CPU-heavy or GPU-heavy games and the specific GPU you have.

It really depends on the games, the desired resolution, and your GPU. But the 6700k won’t be sufficient for gaming soon because newer consoles have double the cores and threads. Many developers are choosing not to optimize threading for PC ports with CPUs that have fewer cores than the PS4 and Xbox One today, and they’ll likely follow the same approach on current consoles.

It varies; higher resolutions work well, but at 1080p it may not match the performance of newer chips like Zen 3 and 10th gen Intel. Still, it remains a solid option.

After reviewing the issue, I realize my point. Choosing games such as Hitman 2 would gain significantly more from a contemporary CPU compared to many others. I’ll keep the 6700k for now. Thanks a lot!

Another perspective is that it's acceptable as long as you feel it meets your needs. Eventually, you might realize the experience isn't sufficient, then it's time to upgrade. I personally switched from 6700k to 8086k because the former was lagging behind the performance I wanted. Since then, 8086k has performed well, even with newer cores and higher clock speeds. It remains adequate.
