I didn't mention aesthetics or personal preferences. My response was 100% accurate about not helping system performance or stability, and in many cases even harming them. Regarding who might benefit from it...? Well, I assume most people seeking assistance here could actually find value in those warning sounds. Did you check the linked page yourself? If so, you're clearly smart enough to understand that these codes offer more insight than simple lights.

You're likely noticing fewer cases with speakers anymore. Optical drives remain helpful since I rely on them often, but it seems they're becoming less common in legal documents too.

I've said I use both the speaker and debug LED when it comes to troubleshooting. It only sounds when you first turn on your PC and that's about it, tell you whether your system is okay or whether there is something wrong. Also it's just 2 measly pin, it's not like that damn thing takes up a entire chunk of the motherboard like a CPU socket... BTW my motherboard uses AMI bios and it does a single beep when the system POST, not some DRAM refresh error like that link says. There are still some board that still have the internal speaker header. I have also seen some board having that speaker built right on to the board, it could be those corporate/server/workstation boards that have them.

It seems they've been missing for at least ten years, which is why they're being phased out on some models. I'm sure you don't want speakers to be left out or for features to disappear from certain boards. This comes from someone who usually picks boards with debug displays.

They're still available for purchase. I have a copy somewhere, though I haven't used it in a while since the P3 period. Troubleshooting hardware issues is relatively straightforward once the system is operational.
