No access to the Root Router admin interface!
I experienced this before but things seem to have gotten worse. The cause isn’t clear, but whatever is affecting it can be anything. I’m unable to access the router’s root control—it keeps reporting "connection refused" or "timeout." I’m using an Asus Ac5300 router, but it’s not running the latest firmware, and I can’t update it. I checked my DNS and Poxy settings, but nothing changed. Clearing browser cache and using multiple devices (tablet, phone, PC) didn’t help either. The AIcloud page works fine. It’s only working if I manually enter the router URL as http://NAME.asuscomm.com:8843/. I’ve tried using other IP addresses, but nothing. I’m running out of options and don’t want to reconfigure everything again.
Have you attempted a restart and then reconnecting? Occasionally it experiences partial crashes, which can be resolved with a reboot. If that fails, a factory reset might be necessary. Best of luck, if it doesn't work, it seems the device is likely beyond repair.
Check any linked device, and see the gateway IP shown under the adapter settings.
Online access via a stable connection works perfectly. The standard IP is 192.168.1.1, and for Ethernet 2, it's also 192.168.1.22.
For external access, use port 80 with the LAN IP address. On the LAN side, it will be port 80 and the local IP. Note that the Dynamic DNS offered by ASUS might not be fully updated, which could affect reliability if you're on the WAN side. Edited September 5, 2020 by TehDwonz
