Standard OEM and retail keys are limited to a single use. You may need to contact an automated Microsoft service and provide a code to switch the key to another system. With access to MSDN or enterprise licensing agreements, you can obtain keys for many more devices. I possess a Windows 8.1 key that works on up to 100 computers at once, but I cannot use it personally as it’s restricted to my college’s machines. If you attempt to use the key elsewhere or share it, it will reveal who received it and track any misuse.
