Also, if you receive the free upgrade, returning to version 7.10 is still possible. Keep in mind, there will be no support for version 7 anytime soon.

This method isn't needed because a Windows 7 key should function on a Windows 10 setup without requiring this alternative approach. I've used it before with a Windows 10 Pro installation using a Windows 7 Pro license key about a month ago.

Registration works on both Windows 7 and 10. You can choose the upgrade path for Win10 to preserve your original files, allowing a rollback if needed. I saved my Win7 key for the Win10 version when it was first available. I never installed Win10 directly on my main machine; my laptop came with Windows 8.1, which I upgraded to Win10 right away. If you ever need to revert, start from Win8.1 and then upgrade again. You can apply the key even after a clean install. It displays the COA sticker confirming it. Alternatively, you might know where you purchased it. It seems it's a non-branded OEM product—upgrading should be fine.
