Hello everyone, weird question, I know. So overnight my mainboard stopped working. Did some troubleshooting, tested the power supply, cmos battery change and reset, the mainboard wont turn on no matter what. No cpu fan spin with cpu and single ram or without cpu and ram. So i have another compatible motherboard here. If the cpu or ram were destroyed as well, could it destroy my working replacement motherboard? Thanks in advance
Welcome to the discussions! It's improbable that the CPU or RAM would harm a motherboard. Ideally, if there was a serious issue with the CPU—such as incorrect connections in the socket or excessive power usage that could override the motherboard’s safeguards—it might cause damage. Since we don’t have precise details, we can’t confirm it’s completely safe, but I’d rather worry about a faulty motherboard affecting a good CPU than vice versa. What I can share is that I’m confident in testing CPUs and RAM on another motherboard.
