Hello, your Dell G7 7588 is handling CPU stress well, reaching up to 94°C during peak loads and maintaining around 90-91°C otherwise. This level is typical for a gaming laptop under heavy use. The temperature rise could be due to several factors, including possible dried thermal paste, but it’s also normal if the cooling system isn’t performing optimally. Consider checking the paste condition and ensuring proper airflow.

laptops are designed to handle higher temperatures than desktops. I used an older gaming laptop that reached up to 103°C during rendering. I increased the fan speed and ensured there was enough airflow, like using a mesh file holder. It usually cooled down once it hit around 80-90°C.

The 8th generation Core i5 should work well as long as the temperature stays under 105°C according to this site. Since it's a laptop from 2018, it's a bit outdated, but it’s still manageable. Your tech skills and willingness to troubleshoot will make a big difference. It might help to watch someone open one before trying yourself.

Thanks for the feedback. I reviewed several videos and noticed it was tough to open up and repaste. I reached out to a nearby computer repair shop, who gave me a quote of around $600—though I only spent about $500 on a used laptop. It’s not just the temperatures that concern me; the fans are usually running at high volume even during light use, often staying above 85 degrees. This made me think the thermal paste might be damaged.
