You're asking if using four DDR4 3600 RAM sticks instead of two 16GB sticks would be better or worse, and whether all four will reach the full 3600 MHz speed.

4 sticks of 8GB provide the same capacity as two 16GB units, but note that two additional RAM slots are set aside.

It varies by setup. For instance, first-gen Ryzen and X370 boards won’t work. With an X570 and 3700X, it should function. Please share your CPU and motherboard details.

Running high-speed memory with four channels is challenging in many situations. Do you require 32GB?

This setup increases pressure on the memory controller, which can affect performance based on the system. Yes, that's correct.

Technically two units will be set aside for future use. For the OP, the situation depends—it won’t be necessary since bandwidth remains consistent for consumer devices. Additionally, there’s increased strain on the interconnect and the imc when using Ryzen.

Ensure compatibility with 4x 3600mhz. Adjust voltage and timing as needed; XMP typically functions correctly out of the box if supported by your system.

Same price means 2x16. Most folks opt for 4x8 since we initially purchased 2x8 and added to it later. I’d never choose 4x8 on a fresh project—I always keep space for future upgrades.
