Hi, your Ryzen 5900X on a ROG Strix B550-F Gaming supports RAM speeds up to 5000mhz. The Corsair Ballistix 3600mhz CL16 was suitable back then, but the Corsair Vengeance 4600mhz CL18 kit you found is only 400mhz under the motherboard limit. Upgrading to this should still offer some noticeable improvements, especially for workstation tasks and gaming.

Don't waste time trying anything higher than 3600 MHz. It won’t reach 4000 MHz, and even then the stability problems make it impractical. The effort you put in won’t justify the outcome.

You'll notice improvements in margins until you see poorer results as the Ryzen infinity fabric shifts from a 1:1 ratio to a 2:1 one. For Zen 4, it seems unnecessary to exceed 4000MHz, saving resources beyond that point. For Zen 5, staying under 6000MHz makes sense if I recall correctly.

Most processors handle around 1900MHz, allowing up to 3800MT/s (DDR4) if you use it. Going beyond that is rare and usually needs FCLK at 2000MHz to unlock 4000MT/s (DDR4). Running RAM at a 2:1 ratio is possible but demands DRAM that’s twice as fast, like 7600MT/s DDR4, which isn’t practical for avoiding penalties.
