It’s true, though some older views suggest keeping temperatures below 75°C to preserve the traces. I’m not sure how accurate that is, but even applying that traditional guideline would still keep the 95°C range viable for many years. Maybe longer than the actual chip lifespan. I own an 18-year-old chip in my basement that still functions properly. I haven’t used it recently, so it’s unclear if saving it was worthwhile. Edited November 15, 2020 by Bombastinator

It’s definitely a lead chip. I’m not sure if it was the exact one I thought it was. It might be a lead motherboard. There seems to be some quality issue somewhere. That’s all I have.

I need different items to evaluate OC. I’ve managed to get through hours of AIDA and OCCT just to encounter a failure and force a system restart in cinebench.

I kept working on boosting my i7 10700KF and faced serious overheating issues. I reached 5GHz with a voltage of 1.300V, but temperatures jumped above 94°C right away. When I cut it down to 4.9GHz and 1.260V, temps stayed around 89-91°C. I cleaned the PC and cooler, reapplied thermal paste, and ran all fans at maximum, yet progress was minimal. My Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 still isn’t handling it well. What should I do next?

It’s quite intense with an overkill cooler. The issue might stem from a faulty cooler setup or an incorrect paste application (as seen in similar cases). Could the temperature difference be visible on the input and output hoses? Or is it due to processor density limiting heat dissipation? The 10700kf is indeed 14nm, so performance shouldn’t be significantly worse than other 14nm chips. You might be facing a problem similar to others—your chip seems resistant to common fixes. I’ve heard it could relate to the 10 series, especially with parts disabled. Given the supply chain challenges, it’s possible some components were defective. There could be at least one core or an iGPU issue causing the 10700kf rather than a 10900k. You may need to try different cooling solutions, lower the clock speed, or accept the heat.
