It looks like this will be an interesting challenge: do game clients prefer GiB or GB measurements? Windows shows 1000GB as 931 GB but actually uses GiB units; Steam appears to list values in GB, aligning with Windows. GTAV Legacy is currently reported at 116.4 GiB (125GB) after all updates on Steam. I don’t play Fortnight and have no clue about the others. Even if we estimate each at around 100GB, everything should easily fit on a 1TB SSD together with Windows, leaving plenty of room. If you know someone’s PC setup, we can confirm more accurately. Would you like to check your own system? Or are you playing elsewhere?
Rocket league is similar to a 60gb disc, and EA FC 26 (now called EA FC after a name change) is also roughly 60-70 gb. I don’t own a PC right now, but my current games on my PS are around 500 gb, so I believe a TB would still give me plenty of space. Also, I plan to share the details of my PC build on the New Builds And Planning forum and would appreciate your feedback!
storage needs are simple: what space do you require? - sum the sizes of your games - include extra space for all additional items - plan to add at least 20% more than available. - I currently have roughly 700GB free on a 2TB SSD, but my Steam library uses about 400GB because I often remove games I no longer play... and there are many other files taking up significant room.
You can always expand storage later—there’s no urgency about it at the moment. I began with 1TB and now have 8.5TB across five drives I’ve collected over time. It’s achievable.
There’s a bit more than 20% space left, which should be sufficient at the moment
Steam typically uses the same measurement system, so two games around 500GB each won’t fit. Windows usually takes about 50GB, making it possible but still quite small. For several modern titles, 1TB is almost negligible. On average, most games are around 150GB, though some require much more. Fun note: my Stellar Blade mods take up about 151GB just for them.
However, everything is on the same drive as the operating system—this isn’t sufficient. SSDs tend to slow down as more storage is added...it might function for a while, but it’s likely to become very sluggish soon. The price range of 1 or 2 TB doesn’t really make sense compared to the cost of smaller drives; in reality, compact hard drives are usually quite costly when you calculate it.
RL was Rocket League, but I wasn’t sure about it. PS games tend to be smaller than PC versions because PC games often have more data formats, giving high-end systems a smoother experience. On the flip side, they expect some users still use HD drives, which means files are packed for that format—causing extra space usage. The titles mentioned don’t appear overly large, and if you don’t install many others, 1TB should work easily at first. Regular games I play include 65GB, 70GB, 200GB, and 400MB. One game I’m skipping is 112GB (MMO). I have extra storage for occasional use. GTAV was installed a while back, probably over a year ago. The 116GB just takes up room; if needed, you can remove it. Mods are an exception. You can go all out with different games depending on what you want.
