It seems you're missing the main board... The problem lies with the drivers for it, especially for a 680i and Mobo. For newer GPUs, the 680i isn't the issue—it's the SLI setup. The real bottleneck is the motherboard itself, which is an EVGA product. Everyone else here uses the 790i or SLI models. My friend had one of those, and Evga confirmed it was fine. The 680i has been the main concern for most users until drivers for the 900 series GPUs became available.
These settings aren't compatible with my friend, and this problem affects most users for this motherboard. Older GPUs function normally, but once we reach the 900 series, it fails completely. Black screen, no display. This issue has occurred to four other colleagues as well, so we've been searching for years for a solution. EVGA confirmed the same result—no fix. It seems someone might have changed something or we overlooked a setting. I installed a 660i with Windows 10 two days ago, and it works perfectly. After adding the 950, 960, or 980 models, it stops working. Windows 10 doesn't support it; only version 7 is functional.
If EVGA stated it wouldn’t work, it means their BIOS isn’t compatible with these newer graphics cards and they won’t release updates to support the VBIOSes in newer operating systems.
The P33 bios might enable the GTX980 on that board, though the CPU limitation would remain extremely severe. (Personal opinion)
I just got my 680i SE SLI out of storage and started it with a Core 2 Duo E7200 and a GTX 1660 Ti. Everything functioned properly. I don’t have time to install the drivers, but the OS itself worked fine.
