I'm interested in learning about other users' experiences with this motherboard and Windows 10 setup. I've used a 680i Sli running Windows 7 and 950/960 GPUs for many years, but needed to switch back to Windows 7 because of driver issues. Someone suggested trying an Evga 660, as others reported success with it on Windows 10. I'm hoping to hear from people who have faced similar challenges or had positive results. I don't mind spending money on a used 660 if it works, especially since this machine is mainly for testing and kids' use. It's also occasionally used as a server. I value any advice or tips you can share about drivers and compatibility.
It's been a long time since I last ran my 680i SLI, but I still play cards as modern as a new Radeon RX 570 and GT 710 without problems. Of course, the CPU is a big limitation for any decent GPU, so I wouldn't suggest investing heavily in a new card just for it. Even if you plan to keep the machine running, it's not worth it anymore. The 680i SLI was decent for its era, but it definitely had some issues. I'd still use it today, though it no longer makes sense. A newer model can easily outperform it with less power.

I've checked performance across various GPUs—from GTX 7900 to 8800 GT, up to 260 and beyond—to 970, 980 Ti, and even 1080—all running smoothly on a 790i or P45 board in Windows 10. I've also tested a 2080 Ti without any problems, along with my 3080 as discussed earlier. The only hiccup was a slow GPU, but it still functions.
Really? I've tried 950, 960, and 1050 cards, but nothing worked on Windows 10. The only ones that functioned were the 400-series models. My old 8800 GT is gone, but I bought a 660 TI for $60, hoping it would fix the problem. I prefer running Windows 10 over 7, not 10. Any advice on getting these cards to work with Windows 9 or 10? The issue is it’s running on Windows 7; I’d prefer it on Windows 10. I wish I could even support older models like the 950, 960, though I don’t plan to use them. I simply downloaded the driver from the Nvidia site and it functioned well for me. It remains compatible with the newest drivers from Nvidia, even though it's eight years old. I have my motherboard, CPU, and GeForce card installed. The board is a server chipset, designed for workstation use, and still receives recent operating system updates.
force-enable-gen3.exe This file isn't malicious; it can be located on nvidia's website, but locating the page takes longer than retrieving the file from my hard drive. You might also want to install it. It activates PCIe Gen 3, which isn't officially supported by Nvidia boards (such as my Sandy Bridge Xeon), though it works technically. Run the program as an administrator, restart your system, and you should be all set.
