I recently assembled a PC using an Asus z270p, i3 7100, and GTX 1080 from Facebook marketplace. When I first connected everything, the display worked and I entered the BIOS. The keyboard and mouse functioned properly. After creating a USB for Windows and connecting it to the rear USB port during BIOS setup, the system froze instantly. The keyboard and mouse became unresponsive. Restarting the PC left no display output and no sign of life on either device. Did I damage the BIOS or is there a hardware problem? I attempted to reset the CMOS but it didn’t help.
The attempt to reset CMOS was tried. Did you adhere to the steps outlined in the motherboard's User Guide/Manual?
Power supply details: make, model, wattage, age, condition (new, refurbished, used)?
Model: keyboard and mouse - wireless, USB ...?
If the new build does not boot, are any beep codes or diagnostic lights activated?

The PSU is a 650 watt thermaltake, the keyboard is Dell and the mouse is the sports talon. There is no beeper or diagnostic LED on the motherboard. I have ordered a motherboard speaker from AliExpress, which should arrive in 10 days. The motherboard Amber lights flashing or breathing—does that indicate something? Thanks for your help.
Also the USB drives section that gets inserted into the port is faulty—it breaks when you push it in. This could potentially damage the motherboard, and it seems the BIOS might have been affected as well.

Check the motherboard's User Guide or Manual for diagrams that show which LEDs flash amber and explain their meanings and patterns.
There are three strips of light surrounding the motherboard. These are not limited to just amber color; they offer more than just RGB options. In the user manual under the section about lights, the only choices available are static, breathing, or off. There is no mention of troubleshooting related to lights and post codes.
Just cosmetic ("eye candy") lights versus diagnostic - correct?
