Hello, I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my PC. But now, I can't play such videos . - Here is the direct link to the mp4. (playing .webm works) When trying to play the embedded video, it says "No video with supported format and MIME type found". When trying to play it via the direct link, it only wants to download the file. How can this be? I tried with firefox first, but it doesn't work with any browser on my PC. On all of my other devices, it plays perfectly. I already searched for solutions for an hour, but did not find any. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your response. I completed all the steps, yet the issue persists. Could you consider alternative approaches? P.S.: I really had no option but to reinstall.

Install PotPlayer by selecting the extra option for downloading open codecs. Is the MPEG2 extension available in the Microsoft Store?

Usually it's unusual. If all codecs are set up, playback should work fine. Without them, browsers that support mp4 should handle it. I notice just three possibilities: 1. You still require an H.264 codec for installation. 2. An app you already have installed processes mp4/h.264 files and browsers need to fetch this data—like VLC. 3. An extension is in use. What program is the default suggesting when your browser asks for a download? You could try opening Opera and see. Related discussion: https://windowsreport.com/windows-10-cant-play-mp4/

The default app is VLC. I just added Opera, but it isn’t functioning. I also realized I can’t watch certain YouTube videos—there’s a message saying “Your browser doesn’t recognize any of the video formats.”

VLC isn't the standard option—it's something you added yourself and might adjust certain settings. I'm not sure about that; I didn't like VLC before. You could install a codec pack, though it's not ideal and I usually don't suggest it. A small package with h.264, h.265 and popular codecs might work. Seriously, you mentioned it's a new system, but you've already set up VLC. It's possible another program is blocking MP4 handling by default. If you exported your .mp4 class file, try installing it. It should be the default. It's linked to WMP11, so you haven't changed that. Just download the attachment, double-click it, and add it to the registry. Restart and see if it helps. mp4reg.reg
