New Wi-Fi adapter for your laptop
New Wi-Fi adapter for your laptop
I purchased a laptop for my school use as I prepare for college. My institution offers both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connections. The device I currently use only connects to the 2.4GHz band. I’m looking for a 5GHz compatible Wi-Fi card. I require assistance in selecting the appropriate one. My processor is an AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7. Here are my system details: OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134, Other OS Description Not Available, Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation, System Name DESKTOP-J8HN4FN, Model HP Laptop 17-ak0xx, Type x64-based PC, SKU 1DK09AV. CPU specifications: AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7, 12 compute cores, 4C+8G, 2700 MHz, 4 cores, 4 logical processors. BIOS Info: F.05, 14/08/2017, SMBIOS 3.0, UEFI, BaseBoard Platform Role Mobile Secure Boot, State On, PCR7, elevation needed for Windows directory. System path: C:\Windows\System32; Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume5. I need help identifying the right card. My OS and hardware info are ready for you to review.
It's surprising the laptop isn't advertised for 5GHz yet, but the HP site confirms it. Checking the physical connections would reveal the socket type, which matches both M.2 and mini PCIe cards.
