The K A 386 won't function properly. You require a processor with Pentium capability. Therefore, a Pentium I should suffice.

You need to complete the soldering of the caps again on your Socket 7 motherboard. It seems you're wondering if MMX is necessary for this task.

It doesn't seem to need MMX. GRUB might require it, and I notice an SSE2 directory inside GRUB.

For the LFS project, a helpful suggestion is to avoid AMD and it will prevent many issues...
