New unit – no power available.
I assembled my PC and was about to power it on with the Win11 USB ready and connected. When I turned it on, there was no power, no LED, no light, no flashing indicator, and no beep at all. After disconnecting everything except the CPU power and ATX 24-PIN, there was still no power. The motherboard has two CPU power connections, and mine is connected to the first one. The ATX power is securely latched.
Motherboard: MSI MPG Z7900 Edge Wifi (Brand New)
CPU: Intel i7 12700K (Brand New)
PSU: Thermaltake GF1 850 (Brand New)
What should I do next?
I’m really disappointed right now. I’ve already had to return my original Gigabyte motherboard because the CPU socket was damaged. Please let me know what to do.
You might purchase a power supply tester or a digital multimeter. These items are likely found in numerous local shops. The multimeter offers additional applications beyond this specific test, making it a worthwhile investment. Check the site for guidance on measuring voltages: https://www.smpspowersupply.com/connectors-pinouts.html
I performed a JFP1 short and the machine started up. I reconnected the power switch connector, and the computer powered on. The power switch cable was correctly plugged in, so I'm unsure what manual short occurred. However, everything seems to be working well and I just completed installing Windows 11.
its possible you had the positive and negative backwards on those pins ive done it myself and not had the pc turn on.
there isnt a standard for that jfp1 connector so the power and reset can be on different pins which is why the manual is needed lol.
