Recently we noticed Ubisoft removing titles from Steam in the UK (refer to the article at the provided link), and now they’re doing it globally. It appears they’re pushing Uplay as the sole platform for purchasing FarCry 4 and AC:Unity on PC, though many users remain skeptical about Uplay. Personally, I favor Steam because of its strong sales performance, but I haven’t used Uplay extensively enough to develop a negative opinion. Still, I don’t agree with this shift, nor with the 30fps limits or the practice of lowering PC game performance to match consoles. How far are we going? Is this a move toward developers having their own PC platforms for releases? Only time will reveal the answer. Source: http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wi...orld-wide/

I didn’t find it, sorry—I was searching for Ubisoft and it didn’t appear. EDIT: They mentioned games were being removed from the UK, but it’s happening globally.

I must admit it’s tough to share this, but since you need Uplay, it’s not a huge issue for me. I bought and played Assassins Creed on PC last year, and most of the time Steam would crash. So I had to skip Steam or wait until it worked again. In the long run, it could discourage people from buying Ubisoft games, but Blizzard keeps forcing Battle.net and making everyone use it. (Blizzard doesn’t put their titles on Steam and seems fine with that.)

The recent controversy over 30 FPS performance is just the tip of the iceberg regarding their console releases. Until they clarify further, this issue remains a point of concern.
