New to OCing RAM HELP
New to OCing RAM HELP
Hey everyone! I’m still getting the hang of things, this is my second build and the parts are: MSI x570 gaming plus Mobo, Ryzen 9 3900x, GeForce RTX 2060 super, and an Oloy DDR4 2x16 32gb at 3200mhz. It’s an air-cooled system with Noctua fans and a NH D-15 cooler to keep the CPU at around 29°C during idle.
The challenge I’m facing right now is trying to overclock the RAM. I know I could have upgraded to better RAM, but they looked like a solid choice for their price.
(1) I have a few questions since some people say these should be A-die RAM and I’m curious if anyone has advice on that. (Thaiphoon doesn’t show the die type.)
(2) Based on what I understand, keeping the Ryzen 3900x at a 1:1 ratio means staying within the 3200mhz range—should I stick to that or push it higher?
(3) Just to be clear, I’m not aiming for extreme overclocking. I currently have the 3900x running at 4.3 and 1.3V. The RAM isn’t stable if I try to go too high, so I’m keeping it between 15-17-18 with a command rate of 1T without issues. It boots into BIOS fine. Dram 1.4v, SOC 1.15v.
Does this sound reasonable?
Thanks in advance for any help! 🙂🙏

And it might also explain why you can customize your 2060 super to just +60 core and +120 memory clock.
