New software update triggering a bootloop issue.
I possess a more recent machine equipped with a Gigabyte H81m-DS2 rev 3.0, G3260 and two 2 x 2 GB DDR3 1333 RAM. I acquired an 8 GB DDR3 1600 module from a Chinese refurbished unit and attempted to install it on the older system. The new RAM functions properly in that refurbished machine. After installing the 8 GB stick, the computer restarts into a bootloop without BIOS access. I followed the standard reset procedure—unplugging power, removing the battery, holding it briefly, waiting, then reinserting and reconnecting—to still encounter the same issue. I decided to upgrade the BIOS, but the problem persists. Now, when I attempt to install the original 8 GB RAM, it also loops but allows BIOS access. I lowered the BIOS version, loaded a previous stable boot profile, and it resolved the issue. Could the Chinese module not be compatible with this particular board, or are there BIOS settings I should adjust for compatibility?
Could it be a memory exercise? Have you attempted to run it in a loop for five minutes and observe any progress?
I actually tried it and overlooked mentioning it. I let it run for a few minutes (it kept looping about 15 times) and it failed completely. I thought that was sufficient, since I saw somewhere it only needed to loop five times for memory training. Would you consider extending the time? Also, something notable occurred during memory training: I swapped in an old RAM stick and got a bootloop, but with BIOS access it worked again—until I loaded a profile from a known good boot file.
Volts are automatically configured in every test setup I used since I can't make changes myself. Appreciate your effort!
